Most UK 50-somethings will remember "White Horses". It was a European TV programme that was shown nearly every summer holiday, as I remember. I cannot recall the actual plot, but there was something about a young girl and some white Lipizaner horses. I loved the theme tune and I can remember that the credits showed the girl riding along the seashore on her white horse. If you would like to hear the song that accompanied the programme, sung by Jackie Lee, there is an mp3 version here.
Coincidentally, I am a Pagan and my patron Goddess is Epona, who is often portrayed riding on a white horse, or as a white horse. So, for my funeral, I would like to have the theme tune of "White Horses" played at some point.
On white horses let me ride away
To my world of dreams so far away
Let me run
To the sun
To a world my heart can understand
It's a gentle and warm wonder land
Far away
Stars away
Where the clouds are made of candyfloss
As the day is born
When the stars are gone
We'll race to meet the dawn
So when I can only see the grey
Of a sad and very lonely day
That's when I
Softly sigh
On white horses
Snowy white horses
Let me ride away
